moko the dolphin! i never knew about this until i read the papers a few days ago. moko is a dolphin who always cruises around the coastlines of mahia beach. it plays with the people too! it's a wild dolphin, that just makes it so much more fascinating!! apparently, its skin is scarred and scratched; works of our fingernails.
in contrast to that, we not only have friendly dolphins in nz. we have sharks too. i never knew that sharks were something to be aware about in nz until i read the paper that day - summer, sunburn and sharks. i keep thinking sharks only exists in australia. hahahhah anyhoo, moving on.. front page today- shark attack in maraetai. WTF. there was a shark attack at a beach ive been to *gulps* maraetai beach is still long and pretty, i'll just not go to the water. here's the report:
"A man believes to be lucky to be alive after a shark attack at a popular beach near Auckland.
Keen fisherman Ken Lindberg says he was checking his net at Maraetai, when he felt something clamp around his leg.
He waded back into shallow water to take a look and found a big gash in his leg.
"Doctors and nurses held my leg right up to stop the bleeding. On the outside of the left leg there are eight to ten stitches in that gash. Underneath the Achilles tendon is severed and i've got about four stitches in that."
Mr Lindberg says he has not been out to set his net since he was bitten."
they said it's most likely to be a bronze whaler. bronze whalers dont normally attack human; it was probably attracted to the distressed fishes in the net. the other possibility is that it may be the works of a stingray. sting rays normally sunbathe in shallow waters so he might have stepped on one. hm, they need dolphins in that beach :P
had bbq today. uncle edwin's family just went home. watched the grinch. aww! he's so freakin adorable!! so cute!!! then tried watching oliver twist only because it's a charles dickens classic. i yawned 500 yawns 20 minutes into the movie, omgosh the movie's so sloooow and dry. switched channels; no good movies on =.= there was 'dude, where's my car?' stupid movie, hence the fact im blogging right now. shower time! watching 'footsteps' at 11pm. i pray it'll be exciting! it's a 2003 thriller apparently or so the movie info says.
no work tomorrow! i can sleep all i want :D
