i rented movies today. i got two musicals which are completely opposites of each other. there's the musical thriller - sweeney todd and musical drama- mamma mia. i didnt like mamma mia at all, the characters didnt appeal to me and frankly speaking, i've never quite liked meryl streep. anyhoo, moving on... sweeney todd! i highly recommend :D but you'll have to be very immuned to the sight of blood. i really like this musical but i wouldnt watch it unaccompanied. im absolutely in love with the plot but the film is just WAY TOO gory for me. i watched my brother's facial expressions to indicate the end of every 'slitting throat' scene. you know how in most movie, directors use filming techniques to censor or down play the throat slitting scenes, it's so different in sweeney todd. they show you every thing, ugh so sickening. the blood is very very fake but the visuals still affects me. gosh, im so mentally damaged. i was clenching my throat almost half the movie. damn it, if only it wasnt as bloody as it is, i would have enjoyed it so much more. hm, YOU so have to watch it. oh, i fast forwarded the last 10 minutes of the movie. it was the BLOODIEST part, well excluding the first victim that is. so, i jumped on the imac and wikepedia-ed the ending. then, everything made sense. aiyahhhhh! why did they have to use so much bloood!! im so never eating pies again (gotta watch the movie to know what i mean) heh.
i thought johnny depp's singing was exceptionally good. the songs are quite okay for a musical thriller. my favourite songs were 'Johanna', 'Not when i'm around' and 'My friends'.
'Johanna'
'Not when i'm around'
'My friends'
dont watch this movie alone! take me along. well, i'll probably be watching your face the whole time but i'll enjoy the music :) i'll ber your sweeney todd buddy :D wow, this is so surprising; for a person who doesnt like horror movies, i find it rather unexpecting for me to fall in love with this film.
sweeney todd will be our 2009 school drama production!! i am so there.! apparently, they'll be using lighting effects for the blood so it wouldnt be too gruesome :)
